In 1986, Vernon and Paige Matson made the decision to get away from the business of suburban life in Rhode Island, and move their young family of 6 children to the quiet countryside of Jefferson, NH. After vacationing there with their family, they fell in love with the breathtaking scenery and outdoor adventure the area offers.

So they found a country inn and motel located right in the center of Jefferson, just a mile away from Santa’s Village and 3 miles away from Six Gun City. With amazing views of Mount Washington and the Presidential Range, a trout pond and a babbling brook running through the property, this was the place. It was a quiet, serene atmosphere where they could raise their children. It had a small farm out back, fishing and cross-country skiing right out the door, and a snowmachine trail right through the property. There were hiking trails just up the road and they knew this was were they wanted to be.

A lot of hard work and effort was required to make the Skywood Manor what it is today, a charming little family oriented Inn. Families can come and relax on the porch enjoy a cup of coffee, listen to the babbling brook and taking in the peaceful scenery. Breakfast is served in the dining room from 7am-10am every morning.
